‘Mother – Daughter’ is an exploration of a mother-daughter relationship. In it, the artist takes the viewer with her to look at her own relationship with her mother. She explores her childhood, the questions she has about family members and where she is from.
Within the work, she is beginning to search for answers about her family’s past. She opens the door for viewers to recognise some of the feelings she muses about. This is an intimate work that explores the most inner thought proces of a young woman trying to reconcile the image of her family with the reality she moves in. Within this installation, she explores her feelings, trying to put into words where her fears come from.
She accompanies video archival footage with a voice-over. The two interact together to create a fusion of video and text to explore these themes. Through her personal experiences and stories she hopes to cross the bridge with others and for other people to do the same.
